Several Tourism Industry Champions of Prince Edward Island are working together in developing a new five-year strategic plan – Vision 2021 – as a compass to guide their industry and showcase Tourism’s importance to PEI’s prosperity.
In June, there were four industry public discussion/focus groups held across the province with over 125 participants providing insight and feedback to the tourism planners that are developing Vision 2021.
The discussion groups covered a variety of topics in the 90 minute consultation sessions, some of which included:
- • Leadership, Vision, and Defined Growth
- Authentic Visitor Experiences
- Removal of Barriers to Growth
- Marketing by Industry
During the months of the strategy process, TDI will be working on developing some strategic options for tourism stakeholders. This will include items:
- Vision for Tourism in PEI
- Product Development
- Market Positioning
- Supporting Measures
The next round of discussions and public discussion groups will begin in September, with the date and location to be determined in July.
The Tourism Industry Association of Prince Edward Island (TIAPEI) has set up and coordinated these activities, and is encouraging anyone that may have a vested interest in this new strategy, such as small businesses, agriculture and fisheries, to participate in the process.
