A strategy planning update for the Island’s tourism industry
Over the past several months PEI tourism operators have been actively involved in the planning process for our industry’s future. Over 350 tourism stakeholders have taken part in focus group sessions, open forums and individual meetings and 393 responses were submitted through online channels. Thanks to everyone who took the time to contribute their thoughts and visions for our next five years!
The PEI Tourism Matters – Vision 2021 Stage 3 report will be presented at 8:30 am at TIAPEI’s Annual General Meeting to be held at Red Shores Casino. Please be sure to register to attend and hear the consolidated recommendations as developed by TDI, the firm that was hired to conduct the research and collect industry feedback. This is the document that will guide the future of PEI’s tourism industry. As we all know, taking a trip with a schedule and clear roadmap leads to a much more satisfactory travel experience!
Over the winter, the working committee made up of the industry representatives that managed the process to this point will be taking the recommendations contained in the report under advisement and developing an implementation plan by spring 2017. Three successive positive years in the tourism sector provide a solid base for further growth; we aim to not only continue to increase visitation and revenue in the sector, but make certain that the industry develops in a way that is strategic and tactical, allowing us to work together to ensure the Island’s tourism industry remains strong and healthy.
